Motivational speaker Jim Rohn famously said that we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with which relates to the law of averages, the theory that the result of any given situation will be the average of all outcomes.

We choose our relationships and networks based off of many things. This happens both consciously and unconsciously. I don’t want to become overly strategic here but I do think this should be done with a bit of intention and review.

I’ve danced in many circles in my life. Some good, plenty not so good. In my late teens and early twenties was when I realized that the crew I was hanging out with was going to land me in prison or dead. True story.

I actually gravitated to low vibrating people without realizing it when I was younger but was not conscious of it. During that time in my life I would have been someone to get a born to lose tattoo.

Obviously I changed the type of people I kicked it with and continue to do so in order to seek out and cultivate the best version of myself. And also to help others be the best they can be too.

I also like this quote by John Wooden, Whatever you do in life, surround yourself with smart people who’ll argue with you.

One of the best things in life is for people to call you out from a place of care and love when you’re engaging in bullshit and not doing things that are aligned with your deepest values. And things that are going to actually continue to polish your values to be the current version that they need to be.

The opportunity:

Are your friends seeking meaningful and deep things in life?

Do your coworkers work hard and have a vision of what they’re wanting to create in business and the world?

Do your closest connections encourage you to check out in life or check in to a deeper degree?

Where do you need to make some choices with your three to five?

Thanks for your time, have a great day!
