Updating the system that processes information.

I go on and on and on about the filters or lenses we see life through. We have experiences throughout our lives that set certain patterns in place. They are substantiated over and over until our lives are based around a certain knowing deep inside us that we think makes our life “real”.

Here’s the deal though, as we age, at a certain point we begin to see that our unhappiness is based off of what feels like constant disappointments when our life isn’t what we think it is. What we thought would bring us love, doesn’t and what we thought would keep us safe, enslaves us. A realization like this, depending on it’s severity is what I sometimes call an awakening.

Unlocking our potential happiness, safety, and ease in life has to do with surrendering our preconceived notions about what we think things are and what they actually are or can be.

Plenty of us have already done a ton of work to uncover the things that hold you back in life, but in order to release something we need to understand it more fully. We need to understand why it was there in the first place.

What purpose did it serve?
How did it keep you safe?

Once we understand the why we can begin to take action and develop new practices from a space of choice and ownership.

I have an exercise for you;

What needs to change in your life?
What practices, tendencies, and/or relationships do you need change in order to live your life in the way you say you want to live it?
Why haven’t you changed those things up until now?
What’s been the benefit of not changing?

How are those these holding you back/controlling/shaping your life?
Try this on, who are you with them and who are you without them?
What’s an action you know you can make that would help you change that part of your life?
What else needs to shift/change in you, your lifestyle, and/or your environment to make that possible?

Thanks for your time, have a great day!
