Week after week I lay out a dynamic to help you understand and integrate different aspects of your personality, mind, and soul. Yes, soul. The most common reason for dissatisfaction is a fractured soul. That’s that feeling of not being whole.

Each of our lives is like a box. Inside the box is a story, set of rules, characters, contracts, and other pertinent features to a “reality”.

Here’s my question this week; who wrote the story you’re living? Where did it come from? Go back a long long ways. Who writes most of the stories that cultures and societies enact?

I was sitting in Union Station the other night having a deep conversation with a good friend. Anyone who knows me can attest to my use of “occasional” foul language. A woman sitting nearby who was visibly drunk and had empty mini bottles falling on the floor asked me to watch my language. Interesting dynamic to unpack, for sure. Why is language offensive? What are the rules when each person in the human interface is enacting “offensive” behavior?

The next question is what role are you playing in the story? I’ve played the villain, I’ve played the hero, I’ve played the jester, and I’ve played the victim. I could go on and on but throughout different eras of my life I’ve gravitated to certain characters and played that role. We are not born into the roles. We’re taught them. We’re handed a script that we memorize, drop onto character, and try to win an Oscar.

Plenty of questions and lots to ponder. Here’s the opportunity;

Where did the role you play come from?

Why do you continue to play the role you’re playing? (How is it benefiting you?)

Do you want it to change?
