I was handed thoughts, beliefs and messages throughout my life. You were too.
I didn’t always know what to do with them but I knew they were important so they’ve all been stored for later use. I knew they’d come in handy some day. Most of the time the messages can be heard as voices of drunk monkeys arguing in my head.

For instance, anytime things are difficult in life and I can’t fix things by myself. Ah!!! That’s where that handy little thought will be useful. “Do it by yourself.”

Also, “It’s easy for everyone else.”
“Don’t let anyone see that you’re weak.”
“If you want something done right you’ve got to do it yourself.”
“Don’t allow yourself to depend on others.”
“If you give them a chance they’ll disappoint you and let you down.”

I’m sure you have your own versions that help you substantiate you doing it alone, not asking for help and being overwhelmed with having too much to do.

Here are a few components to being on a team (business, intimate relationship, family, sports) that helps create something bigger than what’s possible alone.

Trust. You have to allow yourself to trust others and you need to be trustworthy yourself.
Delegation. You can’t do everything. Not only that, most people aren’t good at everything. A balanced team has different complimentary skills that are acknowledged and utilized.
Healthy ego. I know most have the need to be important and liked and valued. Too much of that need to be important will likely lead to doing it all by yourself so you can take credit, be the “One”, savior, rescuer…you get it.

Your life is a result of the patterns you create based on the voices you listen to.
