We have many many entities that live in us. Those are the voices we hear at times telling us to be careful, or that we’re ugly, we’re worthless, or that we’re powerful beyond belief. Some schools of thought call these archetypes, universal, known, characters that live in all of us.

These different parts of us have different duties and purposes. I want to talk to you about two specific parts right now called the robot and the artist and how they have a special, sometimes conflicting relationship.

There’s a special part in all of us that gets shit done. The part you hand a job to and they don’t stop until completed. That part that seems to be less or unaffected by the weather, outside stimulus, time, how we feel, or what our thoughts are. This part of us operates like a machine. We need simply to provide some type of fuel, flip the switch, and consider the job done. One of the strengths of this entity is to turn off the part of us that wants comfort or to feel good in the moment and relish in simply completing the task thats been assigned. This is the robot.

Another part of us appreciates beauty. It recognizes the finite points in how we interface with others and builds relationships. One of the primary motives of this entity is to be creative and be in the moment. This entity wants to feel good and inspired. This is the artist and the artist really likes to be comfortable. The strength of this entity is that it’s very fluid and rolls with things. The days can simply unfold in a very dynamic, wonderous way.

These two entities obviously have conflicting purposes. They want opposing things and one is geared towards canceling out the other. This is such a wonderful paradox in life. Can you remember experiencing this tension before? So your life is about creating a balance or harmony with these parts of us. (And there are many many more too.) They both play a very vital role in creating a fulfilling life but it requires consciousness so you know the ratios of these to have online.

The opportunity;
Which of these two facets do you normally lean towards?
What’s the advantage of that?
What does it cost you? (What’s the disadvantage?)
What can you do to create more harmony with these two facets?
